Ged Begley

Also competing in his first marathon is Ged Begley, who was inspired to take part having supported his close friend Lee Rudd at last year's event.

'Having helped Lee train, and after travelling to London to support him with his family on race day - which was amazing - I did think to myself it would have been nice to have done it with him.

This time, having discussed it with my family, I decided to apply for a place running for the National Eczema Society.  My daughter Lily (13) has had mild eczema since she was small and has raised money to support the Society's work before, so I was keen to do the same.  She is my number one reason for running!

Lee is also competing in this year's marathon so we are both following the 17-week training plan we used last year.  Our target time is 4 hours 30 minutes, and on the day we will be cheered on by my wife Lisa, my children Lily and Keane, Lee's wife Maxine and his three daughters, Lexi, Tawni Jay and Lacy Blake.'

Visit Ged's fundraising page to show support and read his articulate description of what it's like for a child living with eczema.
